Lovely quiet location in the country.Food in the restaurant was excellent although we had booked a table on the first night & waited an hour to be seated at the table.

The setting of the hotel in the village of Wembury is attractive. The building is imposing and the gardens also attractive. There was ample parking and the interior of the hotel spacious. The decoration within was satisfactory.
Sadly the visit was a considerable disappointment. The reception aware that this was our 30th wedding anniversary made little of the fact - not of great import! The bedroom, whilst large, was unfriendly and conference room like which clearly it doubled up for. There were a variety of faults - taps leaked etc., etc. (note left with hotel). The restaurant was poor. Whilst the staff wore white gloves !! the service was ridiculously slow on occasions, Breakfast was absolutely below average for a hotel of these pretensions. Brown bread "the bakery delivery is late today" on both days! Little or no local produce. As I said - a disappointment for a relatively expensive hotel!

Beautiful hotel; lovely staff; location is idyllic and the food is excellent.
Not ideal for business travellers as you have to go outside of the hotel to get phone reception and wireless is limited to certain areas of the hotel

Great Welcome & warm service. Breakfast was excellent. Lovely hotel.
Would of liked a larger room. My room could not pick up the free wifi internet. Only had a shower in the bathroom would of prefered a bath too. Heated floor in bathroom was a nice touch, but too hot.

It was relaxing and suited our purpose which was a short stay to incorporate a meeting in Plymouth.
It is difficult to find - once location has been achieved the surrounding countryside beautiful. Service in the dining room is very friendly but exceedingly slow - this may be that meals are individulally cooked. There could have been more local information available.

Food and service both excellent. Lovely 17C building and grounds. Staff particularly helpful. Would definately stay again.
The room we were given was in the old servants quarters and some details perhaps not quite in keeping with the luxury nature of the hotel. Though to be fair it was in character.
